VEHICLE TRACKING SOLUTIONS

Tracking solutions are composed of:

  • Car Track System
  • Fuel Management
  • Fleet Management

Car Track System

Consists of a tracking device placed inside a vehicle along with a central server and software that lets the user track the fleet from headquarters. The information is relayed using geostationary positioning satellites that give any fleet vehicle's speed, position and direction of travel. The device inside the vehicle transmits its position on regular intervals in order to remain up to date at all times. The interval is usually around every two to fifteen minutes depending upon the manufacturer's and owner's preferences.

Who uses these vehicle tracking systems though? What type of company can benefit from the implementation of this GPS technology? Companies that have large numbers of contractors out on the road, such as electrical and plumbing businesses are rapidly implementing tracking solutions. It is not just contractors however, limousine and taxi companies can use vehicle tracking software to increase their efficiency and haulers can use the technology to keep track of particularly valuable assets.

Advantages of Car Track Systems

1. Vehicle tracking systems can help to reduce running costs by specifically targeting those who speed and waste fuel. By focusing upon these drivers it is possible to not only reduce fuel and maintenance bills, but to also reduce insurance premiums.

2. By using a system's automatic mileage reminder it is possible to reduce time wasted through vehicle maintenance. In addition, by having a service that ensures your vehicles are regularly serviced means that resale values for the fleet will also be higher. It can also help to avoid penalties for issues such as bald tyres and tax as reminders are clear and precise.

3. Some insurance companies will offer around a twenty percent discount to companies who implement a GPS vehicle tracking system. This is not only because it encourages safer driving, but also helps recovery if thefts do occur.

4. Productivity of workers can be increased by being able to keep track of lunch hours, exposing unauthorized stops and breaks and by evaluating the overtime requests of workers. By having detailed information on the whereabouts of vehicles at all times, it is far easier to keep an eye on employee activities.

5. GPS devices help businesses to become more customer friendly. For instance, a cab company that is using a vehicle tracking system can tell a customer exactly where the nearest cab is and give a realistic estimate on how long it will be.

6. Business owners can find their most productive employees and use this information to implement further training or even a system of bonuses to enhance staff members' work ethic.

7. Vehicle tracking systems will vastly reduce your phone bills as it is no longer a necessity to constantly call employees to find their location.

8. By having all the relevant information on one screen, those running the software have easy access to answer inquiries rapidly and accurately.

9. GPS systems reduce the amount of paperwork that drivers must fill out. By doing this you not only soften the blow of introducing such a system, but also increase the accuracy of your records.

10. By having detailed information on the whereabouts of all employees, business owners are far more in touch with their business operations. Meaning they have greater levels of control over their company.

These ten reasons are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the benefits that vehicle tracking software can bring. If you run a fleet based business, it is about time to consider bringing your operations up to date, making use of advanced technology to not only improve your operations, but also efficiency and profitability.

Features

1. Empower you to know the location of your vehicle real time from anywhere in the world via gps, gsm and gprs while using a phone or computer

2. Gives you ability to immobilize your vehicle via sms from any position in the world

3. Geo-fencing feature whereby you can set the boundaries which the vehicle should not cross, and therefore send alerts whenever the vehicle is near or has passed the boundaries set.

4. The system sends alerts via sms when there is an issue such as over speeding, device tempering, battery disconnection and so on.

5. The system generates reports that show the position of the vehicle for a particular period that is selected. This can be very useful during investigations and when one wants to confirm a past location of the vehicle.

6. Vehicle recovery services in case it is possessed by unauthorized persons.

7. A three year warranty is provided for the device and the system in general.

Fleet Management

Fleet management allows a company to manage their vehicles efficiently and safely, in today's world by using fleet tracking they can tell everything from the set destination to whether the door is open or closed. This is a big advantage to the company as they can eliminate any workers that are not performing up to a basic standard making the overall service better on a whole.

Most of the fleet tracking software will include vehicle tracking so that each of the companies vehicles can be pin pointed in real time via a device, this makes the drivers aware that they are being tracked so not to go off of the desired route at any point. Sometimes the drivers will not even know that they are being tracked so it's a successful method in which the company can keep an eye on them to ensure they are doing their job.

As technology improves the fleet tracking software is becoming advanced in the fact companies can build a driver profile based on their driving behaviors so they can find the best driver for certain tasks. Not only can they monitor the driver but the latest fleet tracking software can gain access to the vehicles on board computer and give details on the mileage, petrol consumption, the speed they are traveling at and much more. It is actually scary what companies can collect by using this software.

There are two types of fleet tracking that companies use, passive and active. The difference is that passive fleet tracking uses software which can track where they are heading, etc. Some are that sophisticated that they can tell if the engine is turned on or off and if the doors are open or not! The problem with passive tracking is that they have to wait until the vehicle comes back to the main headquarters where the device will be removed and the data uploaded to a computer so it can be analyzed. Active fleet tracking can often provide exactly the same information but can be given in real time by cellular or satellite networks making it much faster to spot any unusual behavior.

Not only is it useful to a company to track their employees but they can have control of a vehicle to ensure maximum safety at all times. People have remote access to any vehicle and can prevent the engine from being started which will make it impossible to move, they also have the ability to slow down or stop a vehicle while it's in action so they can recover stolen vehicles with ease.

Fuel Management Systems

This consists of a device called calibrator which is installed in the fuel tank of a lorry to measure the diesel level as it drops or rise, this measurements are captured and transmitted by a GPRS device to be online, then can be accessed from anywhere by the authorized user of the device.

Fuel Management and Monitoring

DotKim Solutions has a very advanced system that can monitor.

  • Vehicle “Off-Line” GPS and fuel monitoring;
  • Vehicle GPS-GSM/GPRS and fuel monitoring;
  • Road fuel tanker GPS-GSM/GPRS monitoring;
  • Refrigerator truck monitoring;
  • Fuel level sensors;
  • Fuel storage GSM/GPRS monitoring;
  • Refuelling station GSM/GPRS monitoring
  • Power transformer monitoring;
  • Diesel generator monitoring;
  • Refrigerator monitoring.

Prevention of fuel theft and alerts via e-mail

There are many ways to steal diesel, our system is the only one that combats ALL of them. The incidents we’ve experienced are as follows;

When using a fleet card/cash to fill up, the driver gets the pump attendant to put 450L into the tank, the remaining 50L of fuel is pumped into jerry cans, and sold at the borders or along the route. Due to the dispense amount reflecting 500L, the card owner is no wiser to the fact that not all of it has gone into his vehicle.

The Sensor system will indicate how many litres were pumped into the tank on a specific refueling.

For companies who have their own pumps onsite, the diesel is pumped into the tanks and verified. Along the route the driver siphons diesel from the tank and sells it. When anti-siphon devices are fitted to the filler necks of the tanks, they puncture the tank at the bottom and reseal or plug it.

The Sensor system automatically calculates how many litres were added or removed from the truck. Giving you complete control on your diesel account. Furthermore it will notify you via e-mail when diesel is added or removed. This information is also available in your software interface.

The system also calculates, based on the litres added and the mileage done, the fuel consumption for each vehicle, which will also assist to highlight any irregularities

This system also has a build in GPS Tracking so you can save money today.
